Manduria: The magic of Harry Potter in Piazza Garibaldi

Dimitri's work

«It is a gift that we wanted to give to our country by creating one of the most iconic symbols of Harry Potter». Thus, the Mandurians Marco Dimitri, Maurizio Fanuli e Simone Duranteeach in their respective roles, have decided to bring the most famous platform in the world to the city, track 9¾ of the Hogwarts Express from the most successful fantasy saga of all time. He did it all, with his hands, his ingenuity and his savings, while the municipality only offered moral patronage. The mobile work will be exhibited in Piazza Garibaldi from today to December 29th, allowing Mandurians, young and old, to take selfies and live a unique experience.

«I wanted to bring a bit of magic to Manduria, especially during this Christmas period, and I immediately thought of Harry Potter», Dimitri explained to our newspaper. Who doesn't know the wizard with the scar and the whole saga that has fascinated entire generations? Marco, 31 years old, is passionate about it, as he is about craftsmanship. He, who is a driver in the morning, in Taranto, and an artist in his town, at home, in the evening: «Maybe a craftsman, I'd say. Husband and father, certainly”, says the boy with modesty who, since he was a child, was inspired by his father who made nativity scenes.

“This work took me almost two months and my father gave me a hand,” says the 31-year-old, revealing how much sacrifice and work was necessary. «Looking at it now is gratifying», he confesses excitedly. The mobile work is approximately 2 meters high and equally wide, built of wood and covered in polystyrene designed by the author to resist bad weather. But it's not just the structure that makes the “Harry Potter” project special: Marco anticipated the exposure on social media with a mysterious promotional video created with the collaboration of the videomaker Maurizio Fanuli and Simone Durante. «It is a short film in which there is a magician with a briefcase and a golden snitch who, after having searched Manduria, returns to the owner's hands», explains Marco, explaining that the entire video will be revealed on the opening day of the magic track. «I hope the Mandurians like it», concludes the artist who can't wait to see his work come to life among the glances and shots of those who stop to photograph it.
