“For the Guards and the Squid Game Doll, it’s time to get back to work.” This is how Netflix Italy announces the return of the Korean series Squid Game to the small screen in a post. The second season will be available on the platform from next December 26th. The Italian premiere is exciting, choosing Venice as the city to “open the games.” Many hooded figures and masks filled the canals, painting the gondolas and streets red. At the center stands the large and eerie doll from the series. Squid Game: The Plot “Squid Game” is a South Korean series that tells the story of a group of financially struggling individuals who participate in a mysterious game to win a cash prize. The plot revolves around Seong Gi-hun, a divorced and indebted man, who agrees to participate in a series of children’s games, but with a deadly twist: those who lose are killed. The participants, who come from various social and personal backgrounds, must face frightening and strategic challenges. As they progress through the games, alliances and rivalries develop, and the contestants must confront not only physical challenges but also their own morality and human nature. The series explores themes such as despair, the struggle for survival, and the consequences of choices made in extreme situations, offering a social critique of economic inequality.
