In a short time the flames engulfed and destroyed a scooter and a car, creating a huge cloud of black smoke visible from the highway. A fire broke out around 10 this morning in Santa Flavia, along state road 113, where firefighters intervened to put out a fire that had affected a shed under which the two vehicles were sheltered, which is located near two homes that were temporarily evacuated.
The teams of the Provincial Command and the Termini Imerese detachment reached the site of the fire which had hit the roof of a two-storey single-family house which is located next to another villa of the same size. “The flames – explain the firefighters – affected the entire roof and all the materials stored underneath it”. The causes of the fire remain unclear. Some police patrols were also on site.
Last night and until the early hours of the morning the firefighters were busy with some interventions related to the damage caused by the strong wind that has been lashing the city for about 24 hours. The most relevant one along the provincial road 57 in San Martino delle Scale, a hamlet of Monreale, where the gusts knocked down a tree which invaded the roadway. Fortunately there was no damage to property or people.
