The success of the Sonic film saga is undoubted and, while Sonic the Movie 3 is arriving in American cinemas, there is confirmation of the production of Sonic the Movie 4.
As reported Variety exclusive, Paramount Pictures is preparing Sonic the Movie 4with release scheduled for spring 2027 for the new chapter of the saga.
The confidence in this production is such that the news arrives even before the debut of Sonic the Movie 3which will arrive in American cinemas starting tomorrow, while in Italy it will be in cinemas starting from January 1, 2025.
The forecasts see Sonic the Movie 3 dominate the box office with grosses between $55 and $60 million in 3,800 North American theaters.
Going out in the holiday period it will certainly have a huge boost, also given the target audience it is aimed at. Even though, as we know, Sonic is a character for families but he also has his side a much older crowd of fans who grew up with his video games.
As for the film franchise, the first two films have grossed $725.2 million globally, plus over $180 million from rentals and digital purchases. Furthermore, the saga has inspired a spin-off series on Paramount+, Knuckleslaunched earlier this year.
The production had already confirmed that in the past Sonic the Movie 3 would have introduced new characters of the big world of SEGA (find it out on Amazon), and it’s not a total surprise that the Japanese company and Paramount want it continue to expand in this sense.
And in these hours the names of these characters have also emerged, because as always the post credit scenes showing the new additions have ended up online.
