The point gained in Portugal allows the Viola to be in the best eight of the group and directly access the round of 16 of the tournament. Palladino’s team, having gone behind in the first half, found an equalizer at the end with Mandragora. The Tuscans close the group with 13 points, in third place behind Chelsea and Vitoria Guimaraes. Tomorrow at 1pm in Nyon, the draw will be held for the direct elimination play-offs between the teams from ninth to 24th place.
The match report
After a good start for Fiorentina, the hosts threatened with Nuno Santos and a few minutes later with Cesar and Silva. The Portuguese broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute with Gustavo Silva served by Kaio Cesar. In the second half, in the 66th minute Fiorentina wasted the chance to equalize with Kean who was unable to finish the shot in front of the goalkeeper alone. The Viola found the 1-1 in the 86th minute: Dodò’s cross, Varela diving to extend the score and Mandragora scored into an empty net.
