In Tajeuco, Spain, murder discovered with Google Street View

In the town of Tajueco, Spain, the Google Street View car immortalized a man who was loading a body into the trunk of the car

Tajueco is one of those places where nothing ever happens. Until that happens. 56 inhabitants in total, in the province of Soria, unknown Spain. Now a virtual media spotlight is shining on him: because they killed a man, and they discovered the crime thanks to Google Street View.

Last October the Google Street View car immortalized a disturbing scene: a man who was loading a package wrapped in plastic into the trunk of his car. He had all the appearances of a movie corpse. The National Police, alerted, used that image as a clue and then arrested two people on November 12, accusing them of first killing and then dismembering a man. The victim is a Cuban citizen, who arrived in Tajueco a year earlier to visit one of those arrested, and former spouse of the other person involved in the case. One of the two arrested was nicknamed El Lobo, and worked as a bartender in the place managed by the municipality. Residents describe him as a solitary person and not inclined to socialize.

The photo from Google Maps shows a man, wearing jeans and a blue jacket, busy loading bodies into a car. The street is deserted. There is only one woman, visible in the distance, she seems busy in her garage. In another shot, a figure is seen carrying a large white package on a wheelbarrow in a different area of the country.

The Police described these shots as “decisive” in solving the case, but they were not the only element. The investigation began in November 2023, when a relative of the victim reported him missing. Suspicions increased after the relative received strange WhatsApp messages, allegedly sent by another person posing as the victim.

The investigation then led the agents to the Andaluz cemetery, near Tajueco, and it was there that the dismembered and buried remains were found on 11 December. Only the torso has been recovered so far, in an advanced state of decomposition. The motive and dynamics remain unclear. Google Maps has no photos of it.
