Amorim ‘I want Rashford to stay at Man United’

(ANSA) – MANCHESTER, DECEMBER 18 – Marcus Rashford wants to leave Manchester United, the club where he grew up (he joined when he was just 7 years old) and with whom he scored 138 goals in 426 games. The 27-year-old striker had expressed his desire to “go in search of a new challenge” after being left out by manager Ruben Amorim during last weekend’s derby against City and Italian hypotheses immediately circulated for him, namely Juventus and Rome. All this after a disappointing last season in which Rashford had also lost his place in the national team, given that coach Southgate had not included him in the list of players called up for the European Championship. But now Amorim, speaking in a press conference on the eve of the League Cup match against Tottenham, has indicated that he would not like to let the player leave. “I didn’t speak to Marcus, because I had given my team a day off – Amorim’s words -, but now he is here with us and is ready for the next match. Of course I would like him to stay with us, he is a talent and We really need talent. I want to help Marcus, and ensure that he returns to the top level. He can find a new challenge here too, helping to make United a dominant force in English football again.” (HANDLE).
