The Mexican driver’s adventure with Red Bull ends: “I will forever treasure the success achieved together. I thank everyone, it’s an honor to race with Verstappen.” And the team: “Checo played a crucial role.” Now the name of the successor is awaited: Lawson will be promoted from Racing Bulls (barring surprises)
THE LINE-UP OF F1 DRIVERS FOR THE 2025 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Between Sergio Perez and the Red Bull it’s over. The Mexican driver announced his divorce from the team first with a message on social media and then with a statement; a farewell that was in the air and subsequently confirmed also by the Milton Keynes team: “After four incredible seasons together, Oracle Red Bull Racing and Sergio Perez have reached an agreement to part ways. During this period Checo played a crucial role in ensuring Multiple Grand Prix victories, countless podiums and two constructors’ world championships, contributing significantly from the team’s most successful era in Formula 1.” Perez pays the last two years where the results are were poor and the gap from his teammate Verstappen looked abysmal. As for the future of the seat left by the Mexican, the name of the probable successor has (for some time) been that of Liam Lawson.
Perez: “I will always treasure the success achieved together”
“Driving for Red Bull was an unforgettable experience and I will always treasure the success we achieved together – we read in the press release from Perez – We’ve broken records, achieved remarkable milestones, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way. A big thank you to everyone on the team: from managers to engineers, mechanics, catering and hospitality, kitchen, marketing and communications, as well as everyone at Milton Keynes. I wish the best for the future. It was also an honor to race alongside Max as a teammate all these years and share our success. Special thanks to fans around the world, and especially Mexican fans, for your unwavering support every day. We’ll see you again soon. And remember: never give up.”
Liam Lawson will be the next after Perez
Red Bull made its choice a while ago: barring surprises it will be Liam Lawson Max Verstappen’s new teammate. The 22 year old New Zealander he convinced the team to bet on him at the end of his current season took over from Ricciardo in Racing Bulls and was therefore preferred to Yuki Tsunoda. The Japanese still hopes for it, but will remain in the satellite team where he will probably find Hadjar as a neighbor in the garage.
