The Oise on yellow alert for floods, a risk of “overflow”

This Tuesday, Météo issued a bulletin placing the Oise on yellow alert for the risk of flooding. This alert mainly concerns the middle Oise, to the east of the department, between Compiègne et Aisneand is due to recent precipitation which has saturated the soil, thus increasing the risk of runoff and of overflow watercourses.

Current situation and affected areas

THE precipitation observed early December provoked a reaction upstream of the Oise. There propagation of this flood led to a rising levels on the middle Oise section.

The flood wave is currently located downstream of the section, and localized overflows can still be observed on the banks of the Oise river, the riverside communities between Compiègne and the departmental limit with the Aisne.

Forecast

Cloudy skies are forecast over the Oise, with intermittent rain which could be prolonged. Temperatures are expected to range between 5°C and 9°C, contributing to the saturation des sols and at an increased risk offlood.

Well that the receding is in progress, the yellow alert for floods should be maintained at least until Wednesday December 18.

Faced with this yellow vigilance, the authorities recommend that residents:

– Do not venture onto roads that are flooded or closed to traffic
– Monitor information disseminated through official channels
– Protect property located in basements or ground floors susceptible to flooding

Yellow alertness indicates a risk of localized overflows without reaching critical levels. The services of the Oise Prefecture remain mobilized to monitor the situation and intervene if necessary.
