(CercleFinance.com) – GE Vernova announced that it has secured an order to supply its combined cycle power generation equipment fueled by Class H natural gas for Generadora San's 470 megawatt (MW) Sant Felipe power plant Felipe Limited (GSF) in Punta Caucedo, Boca Chica, Dominican Republic.
This project marks GE Vernova's first H-class gas turbine order in the Caribbean. It will contribute to the implementation of the climate ambitions and sustainable development goals of the Dominican Republic.
Natural gas accounts for nearly half of all energy produced in the Dominican Republic and plays a crucial role in the country's energy transition.
'Once completed, the plant is expected to be one of the most efficient power plants in the Caribbean and can be configured with post-combustion carbon capture systems to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions,' said Dave Ross, president of GE Vernova Gas Power in the Americas region.
