A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody on Saturday.
He was indicted on Monday for violent robbery resulting in death.
His parents launched a call for witnesses with his photo on social networks Friday December 13 and reported his disappearance to the authorities. A few hours before the body of Inès, 15 years old, was found in an undergrowth during the night from Saturday to Sunday, in an undergrowth of Isle, a minor of the same age, with whom she had discussed Snapchat, had interested the investigators.
Heard as witnesses first “in order to know the nature of his exchanges with Inès and to determine if he could provide information on the circumstances of her disappearance”he was quickly placed in police custody after unconvincing answers.
On Monday, the Limoges public prosecutor, Émilie Abrantès, announced that the suspect was indicted for violent robbery leading to death. The magistrate gave new details on this terrible affair, in particular on how the two teenagers met and on the reason why this 3rd year student lost her life last weekend, after having been affected by more than ‘around forty stab wounds.
They met on the bus
The 15-year-old teenager indicated that he knew Inès, because he had already chatted with her on the bus that they sometimes took together. During the week preceding the events, he communicated with her on social networks before arranging to meet her on Friday December 13 around 6:30 p.m. at the bus stop located near the judo hall of the commune of Isle.
That day, Inès told her mother that she had to go away to collect, near the family home, documents related to an internship she was doing. Inès’ sister had seen exchanges between her sister and a Snapchat profile before she left for this meeting. She had no further news from her younger sister after that.
He admits he wanted to steal her phone
Concerning the motive, the accused, once in police custody and after denying his involvement in the facts, explained that he had intended to steal the teenager’s cell phone and had trained her for these purposes in an ambush. “He pretended that he wanted to give her a gift from a friend to bring her to meet him. He indicated that they had met at the agreed time and meeting place and that he had walked with Inès towards a nearby wood, holding a jewelry box in his hand”, detailed the magistrate.
The teenager, who then had a kitchen knife in his possession “to intimidate the victim” according to him, then tried to steal Inès’ phone, but the latter would not let it happen. During his hearings, the person in custody said that the young girl “had struggled, that she had contacted her sister by telephone to call for help, that in panic, he had grabbed the telephone and stabbed her several times for fear that her cries would give rise to the alert”.
The suspect said he then ran away and got rid of the phone in the cellar of a building before returning to his home around 7:30 p.m. The victim’s phone was actually found in this cellar.
Numerous stab wounds to the neck in particular
The lifeless body of Inès was discovered, also on the indication of the person in custody, during the night from Saturday to Sunday at 1 a.m., Allée des Carrières à l’Isle, in an undergrowth near the housing estates . “The first findings made on site revealed that the victim had not been undressed and that she had a significant number of wounds of around forty. The main marks were on the neck. , under the left breast and in the back and some are deep Among these traces of blows, defense lesions could be objectified. explained Emilie Abrantès.
An autopsy will be performed Tuesday morning. “On this occasion, his wounds will be inventoried in order to determine with certainty the cause of death,” underlined the magistrate.
