Strength “and incredible courage”—that’s what all the testimonies of support brought to Edoardo Bove.
Edoardo Bove was finally able to speak publicly, a little over two weeks after his worrying incident during the match between Fiorentina and Inter (which was interrupted at 0-0 after only fifteen minutes of play). Having been released from hospital on Friday and now fitted with a defibrillator, he visited his teammates at the training center, greeted with a standing ovation.
He has now issued a statement reflecting on what he calls “an unpleasant episode”.
“It’s in these moments that I realize how authentic this sport is, how much we are all united together.”
“It showed me, more than I thought, that football is much more than a match, a league or a career. It is a community of people united by the same passion, who share moments of joy , emotion, anger, disappointment and suffering It is precisely in these moments that I realize how authentic this sport is, how much we are all united beyond these results, this competition or these rivalries. ” The 22-year-old received an incredible amount of messages during his stay in hospital, effectively rallying the football community (especially in Italy) around him.

“The affection I received and the warmth of the supporters, the support of my teammates, but also of my opponents, the closeness of the WHOLE football community, gave me strength and incredible courage.” The miraculous survivor explains that he felt surrounded by positive energy which helped him to remain calm, without feeling the loneliness often present in such difficulties, as he further emphasizes. “This is why we should all commit to not forgetting the true essence of our sport, without being burdened by its commercial aspect. Its authenticity is not guaranteed.” On loan from AS Roma, Edoardo Bove is looking forward to returning to the field soon, recalling that the most important thing is his good health. If he wants to play again, he will either have to remove his implanted defibrillator, which is not allowed in Serie A, or perhaps travel to England—similar to what Christian Eriksen did in 2022, moving from Inter at Brentford, then at Manchester United.
