Indignation for some, concern for others. In Russia, the adventures of the very young figure skater Alina Zagitova are once again in the news.

The young woman was elevated to the rank of superstar in her country after two sporting achievements, and not the least: in 2018 in Pyeongchang (South Korea), she became Olympic champion. The following year, on the ice of Saitama (Japan), she won the title of world champion.

But since then, it has been outside the rinks that she has found herself in the spotlight. She has not taken part in any competition since 2020, but her appearances are much more frequent on social networks, for personal or fashion-related publications.

And recently, the name of Alina Zagitova appeared in a sensational way in the “news stories” section. As reported by the Russian site Sport24, the young woman has accumulated a very significant number of traffic violations in recent years. In total, since 2018: 554 fines have been issued to him, including 197 for the year 2024 alone, for now.

The most common infractions: speeding (401 cases); ignore signs or ground markings (65 cases); parking in the wrong place (18 cases); prohibited maneuvers (14 cases); driving on public transport (14 cases).

Amount of the various fines: 497,000 rubles, or approximately 4,600 euros.

In this context, a video posted last year by the young woman herself provoked a lot of reactions: it showed the woman who is known for enjoying driving Porsche and BMW vehicles running a red light.

Alina Zagitova's offenses sparked reactions even in the Duma, the Russian Parliament. Thus, MP Irina Rodnina (75 years old), Olympic skating champion in 1972, considered that the young woman should not benefit from preferential treatment from the courts, while recognizing a special status due to her notoriety: “The rules are the same for all citizens of the Russian Federation But what is certain is that Alina Zagitova's popularity makes her situation worse. I repeat, our rules are the same. for all citizens of the Russian Federation,” she told Vseprosport.
