The Montreal Canadiens have just had a heartfelt one by a score of 9 to 2, Thursday evening, in front of their fans at the Bell Centre, while Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins were in town.
After two periods, CH had a good game, with the score at 3-2. Without breaking everything, however, when the third period arrived, the chain landed, visibly, as Martin St-Louis so well mentioned.
Speaking of St-Louis, one could easily expect him to be a bit in a bad mood, after this bitter setback, of course, but he instead surprised the journalists on site with a rather calm demeanor.
On the other hand, let’s say that the chief pilot in no way expected this kind of outing from his men.
“I didn’t expect a third period like that. It wasn’t our best game, but the first two periods were close. It’s a third period that we’re going to watch, but the channel has arrived.” – Martin St-Louis
The Habs took two bad penalties in the third period, which probably cut the team’s legs.
“We took two penalties at the start of the third period, it was hard to find our rhythm.” – Martin St-Louis
And in the eyes of “Marty”, his players did not give up, despite appearances.
“I wouldn’t say everyone gave up, but there wasn’t anything working in third. We dug ourselves a big hole and it’s hard at this time to keep the mind stronger than the emotions.” – Martin St-Louis
This is the third loss suffered by the Montrealers at the Bell Center this year, having suffered the same fate against the New York Rangers and the Seattle Kraken.
The team has been doing pretty well lately, but this definitely brought a few back down to earth…
