A fire which broke out on the evening of Monday, December 9 near Malibu (United States) continues to progress in this California city. The flames have already devoured more than 1,150 hectares.
Giant flames, devoured vegetation… Fanned by a violent wind, the fire which broke out in Malibu, near Los Angeles, on Monday December 9, continues to progress. Residents were thus forced to evacuate. “Malibu is a great place to live. But it’s a bit like the Wild West, we have fires, floods and mudslides”testifies a resident. “I got up and opened the door. All the mountains around us were on fire and the fire was extremely close”says another.
On the ground, more than 1,600 firefighters are mobilized, supported by a fleet of water bomber planes which carry out rotations. At this time, more than 1,150 hectares have already gone up in smoke in California, which is experiencing episodes of drought.
