Puichéric – Flood risk: meeting of the Aude center mixed union

Christian Magro, president of the Aude center mixed union, organized a meeting at the Enclos on Thursday, December 5. A large number of representatives of the municipalities were present, the union brings together 100 municipalities in Aude and Hérault. The mayor, Christine Péany, expressed the pleasure of hosting this meeting in Puichéric.

For the municipality, two delegates, Laurence Morato (full member) and Gérard Peyrot (alternate) monitor the union’s actions. An important activity, maintenance, investment the union encompasses four hydrographic watersheds. A management team of seven loggers operates throughout the year on the waterways in addition to the forestry companies which are mandated. Each year, nearly 10 million euros of investments are made to reduce the risk of flooding with project management assistance from Smmar. The essential missions are the implementation of flood risk prevention actions through the maintenance of watercourses and the development of population protection structures. For this last union committee of the year, 13 points were on the agenda including the validation of land acquisitions to restore lateral freedom to the rivers (Bagnoles, Comigne and Villeneuve-Minervois), the validation of grant requests for the creation of flood expansion fields (Laure-Minervois), protective structures (Olonzac), reinforcement (Villegly). For the municipality of Puichéric, a global study to reduce the risk of flooding was validated at the scale of the municipalities present around the Marseillette pond: Aigues-Vives, Saint-Frichoux, Marseillette and Puichéric.
