Femicide in Toulouse: an investigation to understand the murder of Lison, 23, and the suicide of her ex-companion

Lison was 23 years old and had her life ahead of her. On Monday, this brilliant young woman, originally from the Bordeaux region, was discovered lifeless in the middle of a terrible scene in Toulouse. Tied up, she was killed, her throat slit by the man with whom she had traveled part of the way.

The scene took place in the apartment of his ex-partner, Thomas, 31, on the first floor of a small residence in the Jolimont district. After brutally killing Lison, this computer scientist killed himself with a knife.

A drama behind closed doors

The two bodies were found by emergency services. Those close to Thomas, who were very worried, ended up raising the alarm. The man had in fact sent messages to certain people to explain to them what was happening behind closed doors at the accommodation.

Some rushed to the foot of the building located on a narrow street but remained facing a closed door. They understood that a tragedy had played out in the hours which had preceded their intervention.

Faced with this situation, the firefighters and the Samu remained helpless then the specialized police services intervened to freeze a chilling scene at the center of which a very young victim appeared to them.

No third party intervention

The couple had lived a romantic affair which was now over but the man and woman continued to see each other. Lison lived only a few hundred meters from Thomas’ apartment, in a residence in the heights of Jolimont.

The accommodation where the crime took place was closed from the inside so that the intervention of a third party is difficult to envisage. Investigators from the Territorial Crime Division returned to the scene on Tuesday.

Surveys and observations as well as technical exploitation should make it possible to understand the progress of the crime. Was Lison killed several hours before her body was discovered? This possibility is being studied.

Thomas could not bear the breakup with his former girlfriend and, running out of arguments, he chose to kill her. The autopsies carried out on the bodies should enlighten investigators and help families understand the unthinkable.
