In a period of political and economic turmoil regarding the state budget, deciding on the path to take, both for next year and for future decades, seems more relevant than ever.
Public spending decisions can have a lasting impact on future generations. Reckless spending can cause serious financial constraints in the future. On the contrary, a weakness in public investment, neglecting for example interventions in favor of ecological transition or productivity, can degrade the living conditions of future generations.
In a world where public finances seem increasingly constrained, participants are invited to question the arbitrations that public authorities must make. What expenses should be prioritized? How high? Should we prioritize present living conditions to the detriment of those of future generations, or on the contrary sacrifice part of our current comfort?
