Investigators reported DNA and toxicology investigations. In particular, it appeared that Ludovic Lefèbvre's blood and urine tests, carried out shortly after his arrest on April 11, 2018 around 2:00 a.m., showed that he was intoxicated. “Analysis of blood samples reveals the presence of 2.11 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, which corresponds to acute intoxication. This may correspond to taking approximately 10 alcoholic drinks, consumed a few hours before taking the blood”explained an investigator. Ludovic Lefèbvre declared that he was an alcoholic at the time of the events, and that he had actually consumed alcohol from the start of the day of April 10.
Blood and urine tests carried out on the victim also revealed relatively low alcohol consumption, cocaine consumption, but also ingestion of Lormetazepam and Zolpidem. These two hypnotics, found in relatively high quantities, were not the cause of death, but they must have caused a change in the victim's state of consciousness, explained the investigator.
Ludovic Lefèbvre declared that he and Tanguy Lecocq had actually drugged the victim, mixing sleeping pills into his cocktail. He claimed that their plan “A” was to cause an overdose and plan “B” was to strangle her.
Ludovic Lefèbvre confessed to having strangled Hakim Menhal with a cable, while the latter began to doze off in an armchair, under the effect of medication.
The three men met in Ludovic Lefèbvre's apartment, Val des Seigneurs in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, on the evening of April 10, 2018, to watch a football match. According to Ludovic Lefèbvre, this evening was organized to lure Hakim Menhal to his home and kill him.
He admits to being the author of the crime, but affirms that the plan was drawn up by Tanguy Lecocq, who provided the sleeping pills and the tarpaulin which was used to wrap the body after the facts. Tanguy Lecocq contests and denies any involvement. According to him, Hakim was still very much alive when he left Ludovic's apartment at the end of the football match.
According to Ludovic Lefèbvre's version, Tanguy Lecocq had convinced him that it was necessary to kill Hakim Menhal because he was the source of their financial problems. The two men were partners in a small company selling GSM subscriptions for the operator SFR. They worked as independent sellers, using several other independent sellers, including Hakim Menhal.
He had negotiated higher commissions than other sellers on the contracts he managed to sign, which forced the company to pay him a large part of the total profits. According to Ludovic Lefèbvre, Tanguy Lecocq also feared that Hakim would decide to go it alone by resuming the partnership that their company had entered into with SFR.
