Israel and Lebanon Say They Are Committed to Upholding the Ceasefire

Israel and Lebanon have assured the US government that they remain committed to the ceasefire agreement, a source briefed on the details told the Israeli channel Can Tuesday. This message was delivered in the context of Hezbollah violations and Israeli responses and the relatively slow deployment of the Lebanese army in the south of the country.

On Monday evening, the IDF struck the launch pad in southern Lebanon, from which Hezbollah fired two rockets at Mount Dov, violating the ceasefire agreed last week. US anger over Israeli attacks on Hezbollah has increased in recent days, reports Can. Sources familiar with the details told reporters that senior U.S. officials had asked Israeli officials to “relax your activities in Lebanon.”

France also announced the sending of a general and a special team to establish a ceasefire monitoring mechanism on the northern border. According to reports, the French general arrived there on Monday and the committee he heads is expected to begin its activities immediately.
