Israel and Lebanon Say They Are Committed to Upholding the Ceasefire

Israel and Lebanon have assured the US government that they remain committed to the ceasefire agreement, a source briefed on the details told the Israeli channel Can Tuesday. This message was delivered in the context of Hezbollah violations and Israeli responses and the relatively slow deployment of the Lebanese army in the south of the country.

On Monday evening, the IDF struck the launch pad in southern Lebanon, from which Hezbollah fired two rockets at Mount Dov, violating the ceasefire agreed last week. The two projectiles fell in uninhabited areas without causing any casualties. Additionally, the IDF targeted terrorists, dozens of Hezbollah launch pads and infrastructure throughout Lebanon.

“Tonight's shooting constitutes a violation of the ceasefire agreement. Israel has called on relevant parties in Lebanon to implement the agreements and prevent Hezbollah's hostile activities from its territory. Israel remains committed to the ceasefire agreements concluded,” reacted the IDF spokesperson.

US anger over Israeli attacks on Hezbollah has increased in recent days, reports Can. Sources familiar with the details told reporters that senior U.S. officials had asked Israeli officials to “relax your activities in Lebanon.”

also announced the sending of a general and a special team to establish a ceasefire monitoring mechanism on the northern border. According to reports, the French general arrived there on Monday and the committee he heads is expected to begin its activities immediately.
