The Elysée announced Monday evening the composition of the new French government appointed by President Emmanuel Macron. A tight composition with two political heavyweights. Elisabeth Borne and Manuel Valls will respectively head the Ministry of Education and that of Overseas Territories.
How long will this government last? That of Michel Barnier, who fell on December 4 following the vote on a motion of censure by the National Assembly, lasted 99 days. That of François Bayrou, who has no more majority than Michel Barnier, risks being in turn under threat from Marine Le Pen and the National Rally, since the Socialist Party, after some hesitation, seems to have joined the others New Popular Front parties in opposition.
