This thirty-seventh edition took place in a remarkable atmosphere and entirely suitable for a marathon. A new record has been set.
Moderately cold weather, almost no headwind and a festive atmosphere.
Numbers? more than 7,500 participants on the starting line (1,074 foreigners including 561 for the marathon 509 men and 52 women), 2,666 runners for the half-marathon with 2,242 men and 424 women, 3,539 for the race for all with 1,596 men and 1,943 women .
In this regard, the Comar Tunis-Carthage international marathon, as well as other events of the same type, have a role to play in positively and usefully increasing these latest figures. Young girls or boys love these hikes and creating a pleasant setting for them could encourage them to hang on and spread the word to attract others.
Soon the ten thousand?
The Comar Tunis-Carthage international marathon will soon celebrate its fortieth anniversary. We hope that it will reach the figure of ten thousand participants, which will constitute a very eloquent figure for a country like ours and will give more impact at the international level.
Early in the morning, private cars, minibuses, taxis and other means of transport disembarked hundreds and hundreds of people. The participation, it is true, far exceeds the records established throughout the past thirty-six editions.
All these beautiful people left at the precise time.
The Kenyans and the Ethiopians were there. These highland runners indeed put on a show. Their feline silhouettes, their rhythmic and regular strides, their proud bearing, their gaze fixed on the horizon and their regular breathing were remarkable. They looked like they were walking around.
Everyone present realized that it will be hard. This is because even at the level of simple running lovers, who have no ambition and compete for pleasure, we prepare seriously. This has repercussions on the general level.
“I come with my husband and my son. We train regularly all year round and our program is adjusted, so to speak, to our pace of life. We're here for fun.” tells us a lady who, according to the organizers, is among the regulars of the marathon.
The “jostle” at the start is quickly resolved, the pelotons form over the kilometers.
The selection takes place quickly. The winners of the race for all, Rayen Maamar among the boys and Samar Neffati among the girls, broke away and crossed the finish line quite easily.
For the 21 kilometers, the struggle was quite interesting. The times demonstrate the rapprochement of the forces present.
As for the marathon, it was a private explanation between Kenyans whose winner broke the record for the event which was 2h 11' 30''.
Organisation impeccable
Let's not end without paying tribute to the organization which was impeccable. The order and escort service led the way. Those responsible for channeling traffic did their job skillfully, without blocking the flow of vehicles, many of whose drivers stopped to watch the Ethiopian and Kenyan metronomes pass by. The dedication of the volunteers who, with smiles on their faces, did everything possible to satisfy those who approached them was remarkable.
Looking forward to 38e edition!
