A violent fire followed by an explosion occurred in a silo at the Liot factory in Châtellerault, Friday November 29, around 5 p.m. The accident left one employee injured, thrown to the ground by the explosion.
An explosion due to animal meal dust
According to initial information, the incident would be linked to inflammation of animal meal dusta highly flammable material. The injured employee was unloading bags of flour from a truck located near a dryer when particles allegedly infiltrated the electric ventilation system. This phenomenon triggered a fire followed by an explosion within the silo.
