2024 recognition evening of the Terrebonne Fire Safety Department

Firefighters and preventionists were honored Tuesday during the 15th edition of the Terrebonne Fire Safety Service Recognition Evening. A solemn moment during which the new fire director, Guy Dussault Jr, was sworn in.

“Every day, these women and men demonstrate their professionalism to ensure our safety. Always on the front line in the face of danger, they are the very embodiment of bravery and solidarity. Their commitment and support was particularly visible during the torrential rains caused by Storm Debby. As front-line employees, they lent a helping hand to the most vulnerable citizens, demonstrating their unfailing dedication. », Underlined Mayor Mathieu Traversy.

“Terrebonne is the tenth largest city in Quebec and our Fire Safety Service is among the big leagues. Consequently, it is essential for our service to position itself as a leader and act as a reference model towards neighboring municipalities. This means listening, offering support and sharing our expertise. The employees of the Fire Safety Service successfully assume this leadership,” said Nathalie Reniers, Deputy Director General – Corporate Services and Urban Safety, to whom the Fire Safety Service reports.

The latter proceeded with the swearing in of the new director of the service, in office since February 2024. Guy Dussault Jr thus took the oath of office and discretion, with all the ceremonial required for this important moment.

“Over the past few months, he has earned the trust and respect of all employees and the municipal council. I would like to salute his exceptional work,” mentioned the mayor.

Presentation of medals for distinguished service and remarkable service

Medals and bars were awarded for remarkable service. Such an honor reflects exemplary conduct as well as long and exceptional service:

  • 20 years of remarkable service: Dany Anglehart, Martin Marchand, Claude Galarneau and Patrick Beauchamp.
  • 30 years of exemplary service: Stéphane Bolduc, Patrick Farly, Patrick Gascon, Stéphane Laurin, Érick Harnois and Dave Sévigny.

Honorary mentions

During the evening, the Fire Safety Service wanted to express its gratitude to its team of trainers, whose role is crucial in the continued development and maintenance of skills within the service.

This team is made up of Olivier Beaudoin, Charles Chaput, Robert Deschênes, Kevin Desjardins, Gabriel Drouin, Kevin Dubois-L’Archevêque, Benjamin Foucher, Cédric Girard, Francis Hardy, Robert Jr. Lachapelle , by Marc-Olivier Lafrance, by Ghislain Mantha, by Louis-Francis Mc Duff, by Steve Savaria, by Maxime St-Pierre, by Pierre-Marc Sigouin, Charles Bourassa, François Martel, Guillaume Désy, Francis Pagé, Kevin Mercier-Nolin and Frédéric Wolfe.

Academic success

Louis-Gabriel Grad successfully completed a professional qualification as Officer I in 2023 and Officer II in 2024 at the National Firefighting Academy.

As for Lucas Auger, he successfully completed an Officer I professional qualification in 2024 at the National Firefighting Academy.

The Fire Safety Service Recognition Evening was created in 2009 to highlight the remarkable work of the women and men who work to serve the citizens of the City of Terrebonne. This evening is intended above all to be a solemn meeting full of emotion and sincerity, which highlights the achievements of the members of the Fire Safety Service.
