The prefecture of Martinique has communicated the fuel prices for the month of December 2024.
- Unleaded premium fuel : €1.75/liter, down 2 cents compared to November (€1.77/liter).
- Road diesel : €1.67/liter, up 4 cents compared to the previous month (€1.63/liter).
- 12.5 kg gas bottle : €27.98, a slight increase of 9 cents (€27.89 in November).
The reasons for these variations
State services put forward several reasons for these variations. They point in particular to the drop in crude oil prices. In November, the average price of a barrel of crude oil fell by 2,8 %reaching $74.45, notably due to the gloomy economic outlook in China.
Unleaded gasoline has fallen by 6,5 %leading to a drop in the price of premium fuel. Diesel experienced slight stagnation at -0,5 %limiting impacts to the pump.
The average cost of butane, the main component of domestic gas, has decreased by 3,5 %but this drop was offset by the depreciation of the euro. The euro/dollar parity fell by 2,5 % (1 euro for 1.0678 dollars), increasing the cost of oil for the euro zone.
