“I have been a veterinarian for 6 years and I found it important to have shares in a company and to have something of my own. I worked for a few years at another veterinary hospital in the area, which was sold to foreign interests. It is common in our field, it is purchased by American or international non-veterinary groups. That’s a bit what pushed my desire to buy the veterinary clinic,” says the new owner.
Continuity is aimed by the company. Mr. Harvey wishes to continue to provide good service and ensure routine services. Eventually, he wants to attract other young people like him who want to have shares in a company and “be masters of[eux]”. The premises will be upgraded and the team will expand in some time.
The five animal health technicians currently employed will keep their jobs, as will the former owner, Karina Paradis, who still works part-time. The latter supports Mr. Harvey in the succession process. This also makes it possible to provide more availability to customers for appointments.
