A house explodes in Tarn-et-Garonne: a 76-year-old man found dead

In Meauzac (Tarn-et-Garonne), a sudden explosion blew out a house on Chemin de l'Estang shortly after 10:00 a.m.. The Tarn-et-Garonne firefighters used numerous means to secure the scene and clear the rubble. According to initial testimonies, the house is occupied by a couple from Meauzacais.

A probable welding accident

Very quickly, a command post was set up by the emergency services. 65 firefighters are engaged on site. During the day, a 76-year-old man was found dead in the rubble of the house. His 75-year-old wife, initially declared absent, was finally found outside the home. The causes of this sudden explosion are unknown. According to our information, it could be a probable welding accident. Contacted by TOTEM, the mayor of Meauzac, José Lacombe, expresses his sadness, “They are a couple who have always lived in Meauzac.”

Reconnaissance and protection operations continue. The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmes of the Compagnie de Castelsarrasin.
