Collateral victim of a fire, a sports hall is looking for new premises near Caen

On October 22, 2024, a fire hit the Elis laundry located in Hérouville Saint-Clairnear Caen (Calvados). The Elis company is not the only one to deplore the fire damagesince the Wav Arts sports hall, installed in spring 2024, must also, find new premises.

Collateral damage

After only six months of activities, the Wav Arts room, located rue Léon Foucault in Hérouville and opened in March 2024, found itself being a collateral damage of the laundry fire.
Paul Bihoyiki, one of the two partners, deplores the damage, particularly from the roofing and certain equipment:

The work is very important and expensive. The roof, for example, needs to be completely replaced.

Looking for a new space in the Caen metropolitan area

In view of the damage, the two collaborators, Yacine Dehamchia and Paul Bihoyiki, are at the search for new premises : “We have to look for new premises. We hope to find in Hérouvillebut it is not won. We are not closed to moving elsewhere in the city,” explains Paul.

The task is not easy because the sports activities room extended over more than 800 m2. Today, the minimum surface area of ​​the room sought is 500m2.

Since the beginning of November 2024, members have had the opportunity to practice in partner rooms. In addition, the Wav Arts team offers outdoor sessions.
