The Christmas parade at the seaside resort of Trouville-sur-Mer, in Calvados, turned into a nightmare on Saturday November 30. Around 7 p.m., a tank collapsed on the public. Thirteen people were injured.
According to our colleagues from Ouest France, hundreds of people were attending the “Celestial Fantasia” Christmas parade, orchestrated by the company Planète Vapeur, in the streets of Trouville-sur-Mer when, while approaching a bend, the metal structure which supporting a tank gave way. The metal bird supported by the tank then collapsed. Many spectators positioned themselves to support the dismembered structure and prevent it from crushing parents and children.
“What we were able to see was that the tank did not enter the crowd but had to begin a turn, and in this turn it lay down,” said a firefighter on site. at BFMTV. “There was the public and some tried to hold them back. We are still on a motorized tank which is very heavy, which therefore caused casualties.”
The show was immediately stopped and a major emergency response was quickly deployed on site. In total, thirteen people were injured, two of them seriously; their days are not in danger according to Ouest France. Among the victims, nine were taken to hospital.
