Renovation to support firefighter health and safety
Starting next fall, Drummondville firefighters will benefit from one of the most modern and secure fire stations! Thanks to an investment of $3.8 million, the building was completely redesigned to meet the highest safety standards. Innovative decontamination areas, state-of-the-art ventilation system and modernized common areas: all this to ensure the health and safety of the team.
The work will be made possible thanks to a financial contribution of $1,196,600 from the Government of Quebec, via the Municipal Infrastructure Improvement and Construction Program (PRACIM) of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
“It is important for our government to support municipalities in their projects aimed at improving the services offered to citizens. This new modern fire station is another great initiative that is coming to life thanks to this collaborative work. An innovative layout
More precisely, in addition to the general rehabilitation of the building dating from 1963, the work includes the installation of mechanical ventilation, which will improve air exchange and the addition of a source capture system. diesel fumes from vehicles.
The layout of the barracks has also been redesigned to create distinct safety zones: a red zone for decontamination of equipment after interventions, a yellow zone for preparing equipment for the next mission and a green zone, guaranteeing an environment healthy.
“The establishment of zones is not an obligation, but rather a desire to provide the safest possible facilities. It is an uncommon provision, but very complete,” added the mayor of Drummondville.

New location for administrative offices and Risk Analysis and Management Division
In order to optimize the space available at station 1 for new developments, the team from the Risk Analysis and Management Division is relocated to the former pavilion of the Claude Nault Community Center, located at 4677 rue Traversy, in the same way as the administrative offices.
