The tragedy caused great emotion. Antoine Alléno, son of the famous multi-starred chef Yannick Alléno, lost his life in 2022 in a road accident. At the end of the trial, the driver was sentenced to seven years in prison this Thursday, November 28, but the court also issued a deferred committal warrant against him.
Cancellation of permit
Arriving determinedly at the Paris judicial court then leaving without a word, the victim’s relatives do not understand the judge’s verdict: “The Alléno family expected this gentleman to leave with handcuffs to go to prison. I think that would have done them a lot of good.”explains their lawyer, Me Gilles August, on TF1.
The three defendants therefore emerged free from the hearing. Franky D. was indeed found guilty of manslaughter for having killed Antoine Alléno, and he will soon receive a letter informing him of the start date of his incarceration. His license is also cancelled, with a ban on retaking it for five years.
The president of the court justified his decision by saying that Franky D. “increased risky behaviors and adopted inconsistent behavior leading to tragedy”. The sentence is, however, lighter than the requisitions of the prosecution which, at the end of October, had requested eight years of imprisonment. The two other defendants are acquitted.
The accident dates back to the evening of May 8, 2022. On his scooter with a friend, the man who was following in his father’s footsteps was hit by a stolen car, traveling at more than 120 km/h, on a road limited to 30 km /h in the 7th arrondissement of the capital. If the passenger is unharmed, the son Alléno, 24, dies instantly. The driver was driving without a license, with 1.69 g of alcohol per liter of blood. Aged 25 at the time of the events, he had already been convicted six times for theft and use of false registration plates.

Driver tried for the death of Antoine Alléno: where is the law creating an “offense of road homicide”?
With his lawyer, who did not wish to respond to TF1, he now has ten days to appeal. However, the committal warrant being with provisional execution, Franky D. will be incarcerated in all cases.
Since the tragedy, Yannick Alléno has campaigned for the creation of an offense of “road homicide” to qualify the death of a motorist having killed others on the road, under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, currently considered an aggravating circumstance of involuntary homicide. The text should be studied in December in the National Assembly.
