EUROPA LEAGUE 2024-2025 – Lacking intensity, aggressiveness or even precision, the Niçois lacked far too much this evening against the Rangers. Very generous on the contrary, the Aiglons lost heavily 4-1 at home against Glasgow and saw qualification move a little further away.

5th of Ligue 1, Nice was far from the score in the Europa League before this meeting against Rangers. With only two small points in four matches (2 draws and 2 defeats), the Niçois did not make the play-offs. A success could have allowed them to regain some color before the last three days. But with a full eleven in the infirmary or almost and two suspended (Diop and Lumpungu), the Aiglons made the evening's mission impossible.
Christmas early for Glasgow
Nothing is going well in the competition for the Niçois, authors of too many errors in the first period. Despite a double opportunity shortly before the 10th minute, reviewed for a long time by the referee due to two potential Scottish hands or even a foul from Barrou, Nice remained at a standstill. Glasgow locked down the midfield and pressed intensely when the Aiglons fell back. Jefté thus took the inside far too easily to trigger a strike at the entrance to the area, off target this time (17′). A first warning which called for others. As if the infirmary wasn't full enough in Nice, I appreciate it asked for the change, touched in the thigh. But it was above all the hesitations which cost the hosts dearly.
At this level, the slightest mistake is paid for in cash. The Aiglons therefore paid triple in the first half. Cerny first took advantage of a poor clearance from the Nice defense to shake the net (35'). It was then the first Scottish strike on target. But it didn't stop there. Three minutes later, it's Mohamed Diomandé who doubled the stake following a lack of communication between Rosario and Marcin Bulka. Never two offerings without three, the poorly supported pass of Mohamed Abdelmonem until his doorman was intercepted by Igamane who only had to stare before concluding. The chalice to the dregs for Nice before the break.
Nice moves away from qualification
In order to give voice to the Allianz Riviera, Gaëtan Laborde Then Tanguy Ndombelé tried their luck as soon as they returned to the pitch, but it was off target. Boudaoui found it, but Butland stretched to his full length to deflect for a corner (52′). There was really something better for the people of Nice… until the next inaccuracy. Still guilty on the second realization of Hamza Igmane -fourth Scottish goal in four shots on target- Rosario had a nightmare evening.
Just like the Nice supporters who, failing to smile again, gradually left the enclosure. They therefore did not see the magnificent free kick of Hicham Boudaoui to reduce the score and save honor. A clearing in a very dark Nice sky. Glasgow won 4-1 and remained at the gates of the top 8. On the other hand, Nice stagnated at 2 points and sank a little further in 35th position, thus seeing qualification move further away.
