In the universe oflandscape architecture and gardenscertain names resonate with a very particular intensity. Among these there are René Pechere, landscape architect Belgian, whose talent was internationally recognized. It is to honor his memory that the René Pechère Literary Prize was created. It aims to reward exceptional French-speaking works, which promote the art of landscape and gardensthrough scientific rigor, exemplary style and quality iconography. Since its creation in 2008, this literary distinction, launched at the initiative of Jean Noël Capart and of Paul Grosjeanhas acquired international recognition, radiating throughout the Francophonie, thus confirming the place of this essential field of expertise for cultural heritage and future generations.
This November 27, the Bortier Gallery was the setting for the presentation of the 2024 prize. Remember that the juryplaced under the presidency of the French architecture critic François Chaslinwas composed of Belgian and international experts. This year, around fifty works were pre-selected by the Reading Committee of the Jury of René Pechère Prize 2024. In the end, five literary works were submitted for deliberation by the jurors. The big winner of this 2024 edition is Jacques Moulin for his book “The gardens of Versailles – 1623-1715”
