Man charged with attempted murder following incident in Orléans

Ottawa – The Ottawa Police Service has just charged a man following an incident that occurred last Saturday, November 16 in the 1100 block of Place d’Orléans Drive.

Around 11:15 p.m., police received calls about an armed individual who was attacking people and damaging vehicles near the intersection of Saint-Joseph Boulevard and Place d’Orléans Drive.

The police confronted the individual, after which an officer shot him several times. Details of the events are currently being investigated by the Special Investigations Unit (SIU).

Five civilians were injured, some seriously; it was later established that these injuries would not endanger their lives.

The accused, seriously injured, was transported to hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.

Following an investigation by the Eastern Division Criminal Investigation Section, Tyler LOW, 33 years old and from Ottawa, was charged with several criminal offenses, including:

  • Attempted murder (4 counts)
  • Aggravated assault (5 counts)
  • Armed assault (12 counts)
  • Assault against a peace officer (1 count)
  • Carrying a concealed weapon (2 counts)
  • Mischief – material damage (7 counts)
  • Carrying a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace (20 counts)
  • Obstructing the work of a police officer (1 count)
