King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain went to Seville this Wednesday to reward several dozen personalities from the cultural and artistic world. The royal couple was responsible for presenting the gold medals for Merit in Fine Arts, a prestigious award awarded by the government.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia in Seville to reward actors from the artistic world distinguished by the Ministry of Culture
King Felipe VI, 56, and Queen Letizia, 52, made a new outing to the provinces. Except for their visits to the victims of Valencia, the royal couple had no longer made an outing outside of Madrid as a couple. The King and Queen of Spain had decided to keep a low profile for a few days, as a mark of respect for the victims of the deadly bad weather. This Wednesday, King Felipe and Queen Letizia were back on the field, together, to provide a festive event.

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia went to Seville, where they were greeted by a crowd of people. At the “Real Fábrica de Artillería” Cultural Center, the royal couple was welcomed by local authorities before the start of the ceremony, which included screenings of reports on the winners of the 2023 Merit of Fine Arts gold medals. After After reading the praise and the royal decree regarding the awards, King Felipe and Queen Letizia proceeded to present the awards.

The gold medals for Merit in Fine Arts are awards awarded by the Ministry of Culture. The winners are therefore announced through a royal decree. This award is given to people who have distinguished themselves in the field of artistic and cultural creation or have rendered remarkable services in the promotion, development or dissemination of Art and culture or in the conservation of artistic heritage.
For these 2023 awards, 37 people were distinguished. The recipients practice very varied professions or disciplines, ranging from Carlos Muñoz de Pablos, who is an artist restorer and master glassmaker, to the director Albert Serra, including the Clown Pepe Palacio, or even the conductor Antoni Ros- Marbà. Several organizations including the Sorolla Museum Foundation, the Chillida Leku Museum and the Association of the Sevillian Guild of Sacred Art were also rewarded.
