A garbage truck on the verge of catching fire in the Oise

Firefighters were mobilized for a fire broke out in a garbage truck yesterday Tuesday November 26 at Chevrières (Oise), southwest of Compiégnois.

Hazardous waste found on board

“Hazardous waste was thrown into a yellow bin and caught fire during pickup »indicates the community of communes of Plaine d'Estrées.

The firefighters immediately intervened to contain the flames in the dumpster of this truck and the street was closed to traffic by the police. No injuries were reported.

A motorcycle helmet and cans of oil thrown together

This start of fire would be the result of an explosive cocktail, mixing non-compliance with sorting instructions and irresponsibility. In the waste collected yesterday, the firefighters found cans of industrial oilof the green waste and a motorcycle helmet.

The community therefore took advantage of this incident to pass a prevention message on its Facebook page, inviting its residents to “respect the sorting instructions” and to only throw away non-hazardous packaging and paper in the yellow collection bins.
