The suspect in the murder of Lilian Dejean, a municipal agent in Grenoble, was arrested in Portugal last week and should be handed over to France this Thursday.
Justice will finally be able to apply. The 25-year-old man suspected of the September murder of a municipal agent in Grenoble must be handed over to France on Thursday evening, a week after his arrest in Portugal, according to sources close to the case.
According to AFP, Abdoul Diallo was arrested on November 21 in Póvoa de Lanhoso, 70 kilometers north of Porto, after 74 days on the run. Targeted by a European arrest warrant, he did not oppose his surrender to France, according to the Portuguese police.
He is suspected of having killed Lilian Dejean, a 49-year-old cleaning agent, on September 8. The father was shot in the chest while trying to restrain the man who caused a traffic accident while driving a rental car registered in Poland.
Identity papers in the name of Abdoul Diallo, residing in the suburbs of Grenoble, were found in the car abandoned by its driver who had fled on foot. Lilian Dejean died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
19 convictions to his credit
According to prosecutor Eric Vaillant, the suspect already had 19 convictions to his credit, mainly for acts of violence and drug trafficking.
The drama had all the more resonance in Isère as it occurred in the middle of a black streak for the metropolis of Grenoble, where according to the authorities a “gang war” between drug traffickers was taking place.
