1is December rhymes with fir tree, Advent calendar, but also, changes. And yes, at the start of each month, there is a lot of new stuff. actu.fr looks at what to expect from December 2024 for your wallet, but not only.

Increase in gas prices

We start with news that is not a Christmas present: gas prices will increase. The energy regulation commission (CRE) predicts that the price of MWh will increase from 37.79 euros in November to 40.33 euros, i.e. 2.5% increase.

The salary scale in the hotel and catering industry revised upwards

Good news for those working in the hospitality sector. The sector's salary scale is revised upwards, with application from December 1st.

According to a decree of November 5, 2024 and an amendment of June 19, 2024, the conventional minimums are revised upwards, above the minimum wage. When, since November 1, 2024, the gross hourly minimum wage is 9.40 euros, the lowest gross hourly salary in the hotel and catering industry will now amount to 12 euros.

A advance of 60% of these credits will be paid in January 2025. This is based on your 2023 expenses, which you declared in 2024. If the deposit you received is too high, it will be refunded to you.

As we specified in a previous article, you therefore have until December 12 to make all changes.

To do this: simply go to your “Individuals” area on impots.gouv.fr, in the “Manage my withholding tax” section, “Manage your tax reduction and credit advances” menu.

Payment of the Christmas bonus

It’s a financial boost that is good for the two million French people who will receive it. The Christmas bonus will be paid this year Tuesday December 17, 2024.

The Christmas bonus is paid automatically to people eligible to benefit from it.

A single person without children will receive 152.45 euros. On the other hand, a single person with a child will receive 228.67 euros.

A person in a couple without children will receive 228.68 euros and a person in a couple with 1 child will receive 274.41 euros.

To pay monthly local taxes for next year, it's now

If you pay council tax and property tax, you may be considering paying this expense monthly for next year.

In this case, you have until December 15 for withdrawals to begin in January, as recalled on the impots.gouv.fr website.

If you are late, don't panic. In fact, you have until December 31 to take the necessary steps, but in this case, the withdrawals will start in February, “with catching up on the January deadline”.

The monthly direct debit is a payment split over 10 installments (from January to October). The amount of each monthly payment corresponds to one tenth of the tax due for the previous year.

Opening of Parcoursup

From December 18“the 2025 training map” will be available on Parcoursup. High school students will be able to start find out about available training thanks to different presentation sheets. The criteria for accessing the training are indicated, but also the status of the training, tuition fees and the dates of the open days.

From this year, it will be possible to consult a section “View training access figures” to find “information on the profile of candidates admitted in previous years (bac series, academic level, choice of high school path)”.

Medical consultations from general practitioners and specialists will increase from December 22.

For example, a consultation with a general practitioner will take place from 26.50 euros to 30 euros. For children under 6 years old, the consultation will increase to 35 euros, compared to 31.50 euros currently.

Specialist consultations will also increase: count 55 euros for a psychiatrist or 37 euros for a gynecologist, before a further increase in June to 40 euros.

End of the “thermostat boost”

The government’s “Help Thermostat” system will end on December 31.

Not for lack of success, but because of the growing number of scams that have undermined this aid, as we wrote in a previous article.

The “Coup de Pouce thermostat” was intended for households wanting to “reduce their energy consumption and lower the amount of their energy bills”, in particular thanks to purchasing new connected radiator buttonsprogrammable and controllable remotely, room by room.
