we compare with the competition

Maserati offers several 100% electric cars in its range, including the Grecale Folgore, an SUV with impressive performance, but a repulsive price. From next year, it will be displayed at lower prices, on the one hand to (re)launch its sales, and on the other hand to face competition.

When you think about buying an electric car and you have a little money to treat yourself, unfortunately for Maserati, the Grecale rarely makes it into the top choices. Customers will perhaps turn more towards a Mercedes EQS or its SUV variant, a Tesla Model S or even a Porsche Taycan.

However, Maserati offers several interesting electric models, including the magnificent GranTurismo and its GranCarbio Folgore convertible version. Then there is also the Grecale, an electron fuel model also available with a small 2.0-liter four-cylinder thermal engine and with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo Nettuno V6 for its Trofeo version.

Maserati must reposition itself

The problem is that Maserati suffers from a very strange positioning, and these words come directly from Carlos Tavares, the boss of Stellantis, a group of which Maserati has been part since the merger between PSA and FCA in 2021. Maserati is the only one of the group's 14 brands that is losing moneyand that obviously does not please the “Samurai” (the nickname of Carlos Tavares, renowned for cutting costs) who has announced that he wants to restore some order to Maserati.

Storing solar energy has never been easier

No need to be an electrician to collect and store solar energy. Zendure's Hyper 2000 is a Plug & Play solution that is very easy to install at home… and capable of generating up to 600 euros of electricity per year!

Thus, the management has changed, and the range should soon be clearer, with particular emphasis placed on the marketing department which must “work better”again according to the words of Carlos Tavares.

Because as we have seen at Survoltés, electric Maseratis are far from being bad cars. On the other hand, they are very expensive compared to the competition, notably Porsche, which maintains high prices, sometimes even similar to Maserati, but which benefits from a better brand image.

So with the arrival of the electric Porsche Macan, we could expect the worst for the Grecale Folgore, which was not a dazzling success either when it was still alone on the market.

The Porsche Macan, main rival of the electric Grecale

Maserati has therefore decided to lower prices, particularly in . So, the price goes from 125,850 euros to 111,350 eurosa reduction of around 14,500 euros. However, with this price, the electric Grecale is still aiming for the big leagues.

Indeed, the Porsche Macan 4 remains the most affordable option with an entry price of 86,439 euros, while the more efficient Macan Turbo is offered at 118,910 euros. The electric Grecale benefits from 557 hp and 820 Nm of torquewhen the Macan 4 is announced at 408 hp and 650 Nm. The Turbo version develops 639 hp and 1,130 Nm.

In terms of performance, the Grecale is between the two models and its price positioning is not indigestible, but in terms of autonomy, the Grecale claims “only” 500 km WLTPcompared to 613 for the Macan 4 and 593 for the Macan Turbo.

To make matters worse, the Macan has a smaller 100 kWh battery, compared to 105 kWh for the Italian SUV, and the Porsche can recharge up to 270 kW thanks to an 800 volt architecture, compared to only 150 kW for the Grecale and its architecture under 400 volts.

Not to mention that the Porsche Macan can be even cheaper, starting at 82,959 euros. It will have a single 360 hp electric motor installed at the rear axle, all for a range of 644 km.
