The gendarmes from the Grenoble research section arrested and then placed in police custody a man in his sixties on Monday, November 25, 2024.
According to information from our colleagues at RTL, he is suspected of being involved in two cold cases in Isère.
The murder of a 15-year-old girl in 1997 and the murder of a 40-year-old woman in 2000. Here's what we know.
Identified by its DNA
The man in his sixties taken into police custody on Monday was reportedly identified by investigators using his DNA. He would be linked to two cases of murder of women in northern Isère.
The first is Nathalie Boyer. The 15-year-old girl was found with her throat slit in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier in 1988, 36 years ago.
The second case in which the arrested man was allegedly involved dates back 24 years. This is the murder of Laila Afifa 40-year-old woman shot and killed in La Verpillière in 2000.
The trail of the serial killer is therefore being considered by investigators.
