French Cup. The US Bolbec match (R1)

Classified as high risk by the Prefecture of Calvados, the match between US Bolbec (R1) and SM Caen (L2) will be reversed although it was to be played in Pavilly.

Tuesday, ticketing for the match between US Bolbec (R1) and SM Caen (L2) was suspended. Its stadium not approved for this eighth round match, the Seine-Maritime club had to decide to play at Pavilly. But that won't be the case. As indicated by Paris Normandie, clashes have been scheduled between ultras from Caen and ultras from Rouen. The Prefecture therefore vetoed the organization of the match in the town located 20 kilometers north of Rouen.

Among the different options that were offered, US Bolbec proposed playing at the Michel-D'Ornano stadium. But SM Caen had sent a quote of 84,000 euros for the use of its enclosure. “Suffice to say an exorbitant sum for a small club like ours, without even having the certainty of being able to cover our costsunderlined President Kevin Beaufils to the regional daily. I find this regrettable. Football is normally about solidarity. In the previous round, we left our share of the revenue to La Maladrerie de Caen, knowing that our qualification would allow us to benefit from a bonus from the Federation. »

The match will nevertheless take place in Calvados. The information came late in the morning and the meeting was reversed. The French Football Federation has warned clubs with the reason for this reversal being security. Everything has to start again for US Bolbec, particularly in terms of ticketing. While the celebration should have been great, this eighth round of the French Cup became a real hassle.
