This morning, RFI journalists and experts answered your questions about the pro-Russian candidate in Romania, the demonstrations in Angola and the sporting difficulties encountered by the Manchester City club.

COP29: what results for countries threatened by climate change?

At the end of COP29 in Baku, the most developed countries promised aid of 300 billion dollars to the countries most threatened by climate change. Why do vulnerable countries believe that this amount is not enough? How can we explain that the question of fossil fuels is not mentioned in the main texts of the final agreement?

With Simon Rozé, head of RFI’s environment-climate department.

Romania: a pro-Russian candidate leads the first round of the presidential election

In Romania, an independent pro-Russian candidate, Calin Georgescu, came first in the first round of the presidential election. How can we explain the surprise breakthrough of this little-known candidate? What are his chances of winning the presidential election? Given his support for Russia, what are the risks for the European Union and NATO if he wins the election?

With Romain Le Quiniou, general director of Euro Créative, a French think tank on Central and Eastern Europe.

Angola: demonstrations against the ruling party

Unita, Angola’s main opposition party, has organized protests against poverty and the mismanagement of João Lourenço’s government. This is the first large gathering since the disputed 2022 elections. What is the current situation in the country that explains such a gathering? How is the ruling party, the MPLA, reacting? Can he end up giving in to opposition pressure?

With Didier Péclard, professor of political science and African studies at the University of Geneva.

: Manchester City in a bad situation

The Sky Blues have had five consecutive defeats in all competitions. An unprecedented situation for the English club since the arrival of Pep Guardiola. How can these difficulties be explained? Is it a personnel or tactical problem? How does the coach plan to redress the situation?

With Olivier Pron, journalist in the RFI sports department.
