PM calls for rapid response and overcoming consequences of floods

We must respond quickly and effectively to rain, floods, landslides, flash floods, etc. to minimize damage. The above request was addressed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to ministers, chairmen of the People’s Committees of cities and provinces in official dispatch No. 120/CD-TTg of November 25.

In recent days, in localities of Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh, prolonged heavy rains have caused landslides, flooding and traffic disruptions. Some residential areas are isolated due to deep flooding, affecting the production, lives and activities of residents. According to the forecast, in the next two to three days, due to monsoons, there may be strong winds, chances of heavy rains, floods, landslides and floods.

Therefore, the Prime Minister asks, in the dispatch, ministers, chairmen of People’s Committees of cities and provinces to closely monitor the situation, lead and proactively deploy response measures to natural disasters to minimize damage.

Guide traffic safely

The presidents of the People’s Committees of localities from Hà Tinh to Phu Yên must focus on mobilizing forces and means to access flooded and separated areas in order to quickly meet the basic needs of the population, control and guide traffic safely.

The head of government asked the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment to continue to direct and closely monitor the development of natural disasters, to predict them and to quickly inform the authorities and the population of their developments in order to deploy proactively the response works.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, according to the functions and tasks assigned to them, coordinate with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and localities to direct the scientific and safe operation of irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs.

The Ministries of Health, Education and Training, Transport lead and guide the implementation of medical examinations and treatment and essential medical services for people living in disaster areas; implement work to ensure the safety of students and teachers, limit damage to school facilities, equipment and supplies; deploy works to ensure road safety, quickly resolve landslides, particularly on the main traffic routes.

The Ministry of Finance chairs and coordinates with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant agencies to quickly provide financial support to localities damaged by natural disasters to restore production and business and stabilize community life. population.
