Israel prepares for increased shooting ahead of possible ceasefire with Hezbollah

Lebanon says it has filed a complaint with the UN over Israel’s ‘continuous and deliberate’ targeting of its forces

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry has filed a complaint with the United Nations Security Council over the “continuous and deliberate” targeting, it said, of Lebanese forces by Israel since October 8, 2023 – the date on which the Hezbollah had launched its cross-border attacks towards the Jewish state, attacks which are at the origin of the current conflict in Lebanon and northern Israel.

The complaint made specific reference to strikes committed since November 17, 2024 – they allegedly killed ten soldiers and injured 35 soldiers.

“Lebanon called on the member states of the Security Council to condemn the repeated Israeli attacks against the army and to consider them as a flagrant violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations and international resolutions – particularly as a violation of Resolution 1701,” the Lebanese Foreign Ministry said.

He added that these incidents “send a clear message from Israel, one that rejects any initiative to provide a solution, emphasizing military escalation at the expense of diplomacy.”

After a deadly strike that targeted a Lebanese army post earlier this week, the Israeli army apologized, saying it “regretted the incident.” » She specified “to fight in a targeted manner the terrorist organization of Hezbollah and not the Lebanese army”.
