► The UN calls for a “permanent ceasefire”
The UN reiterated on Tuesday, November 26, its call for a “permanent ceasefire” in Lebanon, Israel and Gaza, while a truce could be announced between Israel and Hezbollah.
“The only way to end the suffering of people on all sides is a permanent and immediate ceasefire on all fronts in Lebanon, Israel and Gaza”Jeremy Laurence, spokesperson for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, told the press in Geneva.
► Strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut
New strikes this morning targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut, stronghold of Lebanese Hezbollah, after a call from the Israeli army to evacuate three buildings and their surroundings.
These strikes come as the Israeli security cabinet must decide on a ceasefire after two months of open war against pro-Iranian Hezbollah.
► Israel has “no excuse” to refuse a ceasefire
Israel n’a “no excuse” to refuse the ceasefire in Lebanon negotiated by the United States and France, said the head of diplomacy of the European Union, Josep Borrell.
“Let us hope that today the government of (Benyamin) Netanyahu will approve the ceasefire agreement proposed by the United States and France”he said on the sidelines of a G7 meeting near Rome. “No more excuses, no more requests”he insisted.
