A 21-year-old young man living on Route Cocoterie, in Batterie Cassée, Sainte-Croix, was found in serious condition by police in Cité Bassin, Quatre-Bornes, shortly after midnight on Monday. The young man was wearing a black helmet and was discovered by the police, who had gone to the scene following a request received at the local police station.
A little earlier, the help of the police had been requested by residents, because around thirty individuals, some of whom were traveling in cars or motorcycles, armed with sabers, according to testimonies, were making the rounds. of the block. They allegedly attacked several homes and parked vehicles, targeting them with Molotov cocktails, before fleeing, just before the police arrived.
According to our information, a group of angry residents were already in the street when the officers arrived, supported by elements of the Emergency Response Service. A search was then organized to find the alleged troublemakers. It was on the way that the police saw another group of people gathered in front of a school. When they went to inquire about the situation, they discovered the 21-year-old lying bleeding on the asphalt with serious injuries. He was rushed, in the police vehicle, to Victoria Hospital, Candos.
Subsequently, when police returned to Jackson Avenue, where the incident had been reported earlier in the evening, they found broken beer bottles and pieces of cloth soaked in oil, mainly in front of one of the targeted houses.
At this stage, it was established that a gray BMW and a white Mitsubishi had to be towed to the Quatre-Bornes police station, and items found at the scene will serve as evidence. An investigation was opened to shed light on the circumstances in which the young resident of Route Cocoterie was found in such a critical condition in Cité Bassin.
The 21-year-old remained in the emergency room of Candos Hospital until late at night, before being admitted to the intensive care unit.
