A detached garage located on the property at 59 rue Gaëtan-Guérin in Coteau-du-Lac was engulfed in flames this Sunday, November 24 in the evening. The call was sent to the emergency center at 9:30 p.m. and the intervention required the presence of three fire safety services in the region.
« The fire spread to the exterior wall and attic of the garage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but investigations tend to show that a cigarette butt could be responsible for the fire. The rapid intervention of the firefighters made it possible to limit the damage to the building and more specifically to two exterior walls, the attic and an exterior wall. The owners of the premises will undoubtedly have to reinvest a few thousand dollars to repair the damage. indicates the director of the Coteau-du-Lac Fire Safety Service, Patrick Laberge-Poirier.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported following the intervention. As per protocol, the Coteau-du-Lac fire brigade had to call on its colleagues from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and Saint-Zotique for this intervention. In total, around twenty firefighters went to the scene to respond to the call.
