Charles Leclerc very angry on the radio, he attacks his team

Third and fourth at the finish of the twenty-second stage of the world championship, in Las Vegas, Ferrari optimized everything to try to achieve the best possible result. Throughout the weekend, the Silver Arrows of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton were untouchable on the Strip route. Dominating during free practice on Thursday, for qualifying and the race, Mercedes was intractable, impossible to beat them consistently on the track. But in the final part of the test, things changed for the Italian clan.

During the pre-race briefing, the reds did not keep certain promises to Charles Leclerc, during his second pit stop. In difficulty with his tires due to graining, Carlos Sainz asked to enter the pit lane. For fear of going out in traffic, his team asked him to stay and give up his third position to Leclerc. But in the end, the Spaniard overtook the Monegasque and Max Verstappen, to finish behind the two Britons.

“I get fucked every time”

In the deceleration lap, Charles Leclerc was very expressive on the radio towards his team. Frustrated at not having been able to get on the podium and having been fooled with strategy, the Monegasque was quick to express his discontent. But his race engineer, Bryan Bozzi, tried to calm things down by explaining himself to his driver, but in vain.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, I did my job, but by being nice, I get fucked every fucking time, every fucking time. It's not even being nice, it's just being respectful. I know I have to shut up, but at some point, it’s always the same thing…”

A few laps from the finish, the battle between the two men was already very heated: “Carlos was ordered not to pass him, but it's really tight, you could be right in front. We told him not to put pressure on you. So take care of your tires”to which Leclerc replied: “Maybe try [de le lui dire] in Spanish.”

MEN LIFE

In Brief

At the end of the Las Vegas GP, Charles Leclerc crossed the finish line in fourth position, just off the podium. Obviously, this result did not benefit the Monegasque who did not hesitate to show his dissatisfaction on the radio. His team would have made a strategic error.
