Ali Larijani, advisor to the Iranian Supreme Leader, declared in an interview that Iran is preparing to “respond” to the latest Israeli attack which occurred on October 26, reports the official agency, Tasnim.
During this attack, the Israeli air force carried out three waves of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure. These came weeks after around 200 Iranian ballistic missiles were fired at Israel.
Although Iran has stated its intention to retaliate, Iranian officials had previously suggested that these retaliations could be “postponed” after the announcement of Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election on November 6.
This statement comes as discussions on the Iranian nuclear program are planned for this Friday between Tehran and the three major European powers (France, Germany, United Kingdom). These countries recently supported a text critical of Iran for its supposed lack of cooperation in this matter, during a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The text, approved by 19 of the 35 members of the IAEA Board of Governors, aroused the anger of Tehran, which in response announced the commissioning of “new advanced centrifuges”.
