The San Antonio Spurs completed the comeback 104-94 against the Golden State Warriors during Victor Wembanyama’s return to play on Saturday.
Wembanyama had missed the last three games with a right knee contusion. He scored 7 points in a row for his team in the last quarter in addition to a long basket and two free throws to help the Spurs overcome a 17-point deficit. He finished with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists.
The Spurs signed a third victory in a row for the first time this season.
Stephon Castle had another strong 19-point game, while Harrison Barnes added 22.
Aside from the first 30 seconds of the game, the Spurs didn’t lead at all until a three-pointer from Stephon Castle made it 93-90 with 3:48 left in the game.
The Warriors completely ran out of gas and started committing turnovers at the wrong time. They did not score for more than 4 minutes in this fourth quarter, which San Antonio dominated 33-13.
It was the first of three clashes between Wemby and Stephen Curry’s squad this season. They will not meet again before March 30.
Curry only had 14 points, then Andrew Wiggins 20. The Warriors suffered a second defeat in their last seven meetings.
The Spurs managed to overcome a 20-point deficit against the Utah Jazz on Thursday and they repeated the experience this evening.

POR: Anfernee Simons (25), Shaedon Sharpe (24) and Jerami Grant (22) all reached the 20-point plateau.
HOU: Alperen Sengun obtained 22 points in addition to adding 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Hornets 119 – Bucks 125
CHA: Lamelo Ball had the best game of his career with 50 points. He had never reached the 50-point plateau before.
MIL: 32 points and 11 rebounds for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was helped by Damian Lillard’s 31 points.
Nuggets 127 – Lakers 102
DEN: Nikola Jokic narrowly missed the hat-trick with 34 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists.
LAK: LeBron James scored 18 points in addition to adding 6 rebounds and 7 assists.
